Kreutz Creek Vineyards and Winery is owned and operated by Carole and Jim Kirkpatrick. In 1989 Carole bought Jim a wine making kit for his birthday, they lived in York County at the time. Jim made the wine from the kit and it was really great. He met someone with grapes, made some wine and it was pretty good too. He decided he wanted to grow his own grapes. In 1991 they bought a house (in York County) on 3 acres and planted about 100 vines. His wine was really tasty so he started to enter amateur wine competitions and winning too. That gave him the fever.
In 1995 Jim found out he was getting transferred to New Jersey for his job and West Grove was midway between Carole’s job in York and his new job. They found 20 acres of rolling hills in Chester County that would be perfect for growing grapes. They bought it, in 1998 they moved into their new house and planted their grapes that same year. The West Grove tasting room was opened in 2003 and the West Chester tasting room was opened in 2007.
